Lighting a Swimming Pool

Swimming Pool Lighting Floodlights Illuminance levels Dimensions Specifications Sports guide

Lighting a Swimming Pool :

The French Swimming Federation has not defined standards for swimming pool lighting but it does recommend certain levels of light depending on use:
Le niveau d’éclairage minimal ne doit pas être inférieur à 300 Lux ;
The minimum illuminance level is 300 Lux;

For competitions, illuminance must be at least 600 Lux;

For all competitions broadcast on television, the recommended illuminance is 1,500 Lux.

These recommendations will ensure better visibility depending on the level of sport and the media coverage. Lighting can be adapted to different needs whilst also saving energy.

The Speqtris Sport range of fixtures for Swimming Pool lighting :

Local swimming pools and water parks are often equipped with very powerful floodlights. To improve energy efficiency and visual comfort, we upgrade the lighting with specific floodlights designed to withstand the aggressive environment in these facilities.

Swimming Pool illuminance :

The French Swimming Federation provides recommendations for swimming pool lighting :

Horizontal illuminance uniformity factor :

The uniformity factor is not necessarily required for non-Olympic pools. To achieve good uniformity, ≥ 0.7 should be taken as the reference uniformity factor. It is important to make sure that the swimming pool decks are also well lighted.

Dimensions of an Olympic Pool:

There are other dimensions for leisure pools with special shapes, specific to each water park. We therefore carry out studies to adapt our lighting to any type of pool and provide the most effective solution.

Technical specifications are a document necessary for any public procurement contract. They define the buyer’s requirements. For lighting at swimming pools or water parks, illuminance levels are recommended to ensure that each lighted pool is compliant.
